Kitchen Tune-Up Atlanta Cumming Owners Find Right Fit in Franchising
Melissa and Andrew Quesada had experience building a successful business already—they had their own animal hospital. A change in location and a desire to try something new spurred them to buy the Kitchen Tune-Up Atlanta-Cumming, GA franchise.
Melissa was an elementary school teacher and Andrew a veterinarian. Together, they owned an animal hospital until they sold it in 2020. Both were “bitten by the business bug,” as the couple puts it. They realized they loved interacting with customers and wanted to continue serving their community through business.
Franchising: The Right Fit
What should that new business look like? Franchising seemed like the right fit because they wouldn’t have to start from scratch, Melissa says. “Having an experienced team with proven processes backing us up was the biggest motivator. Franchising seems like a huge head start as a startup,” she adds.
Like many Kitchen Tune-Up owners, they also liked the idea of working for themselves. “We really love the way we can have a bigger impact as business owners than employees, on our customers and team,” Melissa says.
The Quesadas looked at other franchise businesses but chose Kitchen Tune-Up for three reasons. First, they credit the company’s group validation calls as big influences. Second, the home renovation industry simply seemed more appealing to them than maid services, food, or other industries they researched. Third, their financial adviser recommended Kitchen Tune-Up.
Creating Satisfaction for Homeowners
Kitchen Tune-Up’s efficient, speedy processes create results in just days, and that’s fulfilling not only for the homeowner but also for the franchise, Melissa notes. “The most exciting part of what we do is the huge impact we have on someone’s home satisfaction in such a short period of time. This seems like it will be motivating for our team, also.”
Kitchen Tune-Up always asks new Tunies what aspect of training was the biggest learning curve for them. Melissa notes: “The marketing day was a whirlwind! Most of our previous marketing was very basic, so we are excited to learn more about it. The refacing process is simpler than I would have expected.”
The Quesadas were concerned at first that, as franchise owners, they might not have as much control over their business as they’d like. Now they say they’re sold on the franchise model. “We can focus on building our internal processes without having to develop an entire business, which is great,” they say.
When the Quesadas aren’t turning homeowners’ kitchen dreams into realities, they stay busy chasing their two young children or their dogs. The family loves spending time outdoors and enjoys bike racing and camping.
