What was your career before becoming a Tunie?
We owned and operated a Sears Hometown Store. Prior to that, we owned an appliance repair business in Colorado.
What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
I have two favorites: connecting with our customers and work/life balance.
What comes to mind as your most memorable kitchen update?
My most memorable customer so far has been a project we did for a well-known stunt artist. (He is the stuntman for Bruce Willis and Bryan Cranston!) He and his wife were the most down-to-earth people to work for and they absolutely loved their kitchen, bar, laundry room, pantry room, bathroom reface.
Any advice for someone thinking about making the leap and buying their own franchise?
Be ready for the challenges and rewards.
When you’re not working, what is your favorite hobby or pastime?
We love adventure! Hiking and seeing different parts of the world are our favorite.
What’s something unique about your area?
Lake Havasu is home to the beautiful London Bridge. Our area is a little slice of paradise.
Do you have a favorite cabinet door style?
Yes! I am a huge fan of distressed knotty alder and Salem maple stain with chocolate glaze.
What was the biggest motivator to why you bought your own franchise?
It was really to be in charge of our financial future. We wanted to use our energy and skills to determine our income.
What have you found to be the biggest benefit to franchise ownership?
Having a franchise (with Kitchen Tune-Up specifically) has been a blessing. It’s the support that we get from our Home Office team that really sets apart this franchise from others. They are always there to answer questions, provide support and motivation.
