Featured Franchise: Kitchen Tune-Up of Peabody

This week’s featured franchise takes us to the Boston area. Matthew Silva and his father, Manuel, stay busy updating kitchens in Essex County, Massachusetts.  Matthew and his wife have a busy young family, and he enjoys the flexibility of being his own boss. Their franchise took home our National Project of the Year Award in 2016!  Read more about this father and son duo below. Thank you Matthew for the interview!

What was your career before becoming a Tunie?
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I had the opportunity to own a Quiznos franchise. A year and a half later, I decided to purchase a Kitchen Tune-Up franchise with my father, Manuel. My father used to work in plastics manufacturing prior to owning the franchise.

What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
I like being my own boss and the scheduling is desirable, especially because I have young children. The end results when updating kitchens, and our customers' reactions are very gratifying.

Any advice for someone thinking about making the leap and buying their own franchise?
I would let them know they are purchasing a great franchise opportunity with great support, great vendors, and it allows for great quality of life.

When you’re not working, what is your favorite hobby or pastime? 
My past time is certainly my family, and our children are ages 4 and 1. We are always doing fun activities with our kids as often as possible.

What’s something unique about your area? 
The New England Patriots in the Boston Area.

We switch up our National Reunion location each year.  What has been your favorite city to visit, or most memorable Reunion so far?
Las Vegas has been my favorite city to visit so far.

Do you have a favorite cabinet door style?
It’s extremely popular, and I like the white shaker door style.

What was the biggest motivator to WHY you bought your own franchise?
I wanted the opportunity to own a business with my father and Kitchen Tune-Up was the correct choice.

What have you found to be the biggest benefit to franchise ownership? 
The great support from the Home Office, along with great support from my fellow franchisees in the Boston area.
