Featured Franchise: Kitchen Tune-Up Orlando
Matt & Lorna Pierce joined the Kitchen Tune-Up franchise family in 2013. They researched our opportunity at the urging of their good friend Markus Reidler who became a franchise owner in 2012. We are so glad they took the leap and have been remodeling the expectations of clients in Florida ever since!
What were your careers before becoming Tunies?
Computer Animator (Matt); Tax Director (Lorna)
What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
Freedom from the normal day-to-day grind, and being in charge of our own schedule. Being responsible for your own accomplishments toward your goals and not somebody else’s.
What comes to mind as your most memorable kitchen update?
We had a client who was recently widowed, and her kitchen was in bad shape and needed a lot of repairs. Her husband was the one who used to take care of that for her and she didn’t know where to turn or who to trust. Her cabinet drawers were literally held together with moving tape. She found us and really felt like Matt was somebody she could trust and was so excited with the finished refacing that she cried and gave him the hugest hug!
Any advice for someone thinking about making the leap and buying their own franchise?
Be prepared to do a lot of hard work, but it is also very rewarding.
When you’re not working, what is your favorite hobby or pastime?
Kayaking, spending time at the beach, & traveling, or just hanging out with our granddaughter Mya.
What’s something unique about your area?
We live in the land of the Mouse! (Mickey Mouse in Orlando.) In fact, we can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks every night from our backyard.
We switch up our National Reunion location each year. What has been your favorite city to visit or most memorable Reunion so far?
Two have been held in our home area (Tampa and Orlando), but Myrtle Beach was our favorite city to visit.
Do you have a favorite cabinet door style?
Our SRP-10 wood door. It is incredibly versatile with many profiles and edges, so it can be used for almost any custom look a customer wants, at an affordable price.
What was the biggest motivator to why you bought a franchise business?
We were excited to join the franchise as a Veteran owner. We were looking to do something entrepreneurial, and Kitchen Tune-Up was a good fit for what we were looking for. Our best friend for over 30 years, Markus Reidler, had recently joined the franchise system a few months before we did and he convinced us it was a great investment opportunity.
What have you found to be the biggest benefit to franchise ownership?
Having access to proven systems, being able to connect with so many other owners who can help solve any problem or offer guidance from their past experiences so that you never feel like you are on your own or trying to figure things out by yourself.
