Featured Franchise: Kitchen Tune-Up San Antonio, TX

This week’s feature is Lance Permenter, owner of Kitchen Tune-Up San Antonio. Lance and his team have been updating kitchens across the San Antonio region since 2016. Thanks for the interview, Lance!

What was your career before becoming a Tunie?
Prior to Kitchen Tune-Up, I was in construction as a commercial landscape architect, as well as a project manager for a large remodeling company.

What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
The ability to build something that I can be proud of.

What comes to mind as your most memorable kitchen update? 
The Martinez project stands out. We transformed their kitchen from a standard builder-grade kitchen to a space that was unique to their tastes, with the use of space designed for the needs of their family. The excitement from the customer made all the hard work worth it.

Any advice for someone thinking about taking the leap and buying their own franchise business?
It’s a lot of work, but with great rewards. Make sure you are up for the challenge!

When you’re not working, what is your favorite hobby or pastime? 
Spending time with my family. Just about anything outdoors. I love to hunt and fish with my kids.

What’s something unique about your area? 
San Antonio is an avid Spur’s town (though I am not a big basketball fan!). My favorite thing about living in San Antonio is the proximity to “The Hill Country”. There is a lot of nature to explore and it is peppered with wineries and craft beer breweries.

Do you have a favorite cabinet door style?
Our Dakota door style, painted white or gray, and also our smoke stain on maple cabinets in any door style.

What have you found to be the biggest benefit to franchise ownership? 
I am my own boss. But also the proven support system that is in place to help me grow.
