Featured Franchise - Kitchen Tune-Up Wichita, KS

This week’s feature puts a spotlight on Kansas. Adam and Rachel Phillips are second-generation Tunies! Adam’s parents, Jim and Arlene, brought Kitchen Tune-Up to Wichita in 2005. Adam and Rachel joined the team a few years later and the families worked side-by-side creating amazing kitchens & baths.  As Jim and Arlene began to consider retirement, Adam and Rachel start making plans to purchase the business and made that happen in 2016. With big growth goals in mind, they kicked off 2018 by expanding and buying an additional territory. They have a showroom in Wichita and serve clients across Wichita, Valley Center, Maize, Park City, Kechi, Bel Aire, and all the surrounding communities.

What were your careers before becoming Tunies?
Rachel was a designer and a TV host. Adam held executive positions at various companies.

What is your favorite part of owning your own business?
Our flexible schedule. Adam most likes to see things physically accomplished. During every project, we get to physically create something new with our business. Rachel loves helping our clients design a space they love. One that is beautiful, efficient, and comfortable for their family.

What comes to mind as your most memorable kitchen update? 
We have done so many awesome projects for great clients across Wichita and the suburbs. Everything from traditional to super modern “Vegas Glam.”  It is too hard to choose only one or two favorites.

Any advice for someone thinking about making the leap and buying their own franchise?
Go for it! It’s the hardest yet most rewarding work!

What do you do for fun when you’re not working? 
Watching our two teenage girls live life. From sports, school, and vacations. All the seasons of all of the ages. From babies to princesses to teenagers. We love having the time to be at everything they are involved in, and our business provides the financial resources to offer them new opportunities. As a family we love to get away from our busy schedules at the beach, and spend time serving others through our church volunteer work.

What’s something unique about your area? 
We’re in the aircraft capital of the world.

We switch up our National Reunion location each year.  What has been your favorite city to visit, or most memorable Reunion so far?
Orlando!

Do you have a favorite cabinet door style?
For sure!  Our Easton door in cherry, our contemporary metallic acrylics, glass-backed doors, and our new line of patina colors.

What was the biggest motivator to why you bought your own franchise business?
Being our own boss.

What have you found to be the biggest benefit to franchise ownership? 
Our scheduling!
