Kitchen Tune-Up Franchise Takes Flight in Nebraska
Kevin Kiefer and Courtney Pedroza, owners of Kitchen Tune-Up Tri-City Area, NE
There’s no one “right” path to joining our Tunie family. New owners join Kitchen Tune-Up in different ways. Many open new franchises after seeking out and researching franchising opportunities. Some, like Kevin Kiefer, purchase an already existing franchise when they spot how well Kitchen Tune-Up can fit their needs—even if they weren’t looking to become owners.
Kiefer and his daughter Courtney Pedroza bought the Grafton, NE, Kitchen Tune-Up from previous owner Mike Damon. Kiefer spent more than 20 years as a commercial pilot. Pedroza has training in interior architectural design and drafting, making her “a perfect partner” in a business-like Kitchen Tune-Up, Kiefer notes.
Kiefer also has some remodeling experience, so when he heard about a Kitchen Tune-Up franchise up for sale, he started considering whether the business was right for him.
The potential for flexible hours to do more with the family was one big attraction, Kiefer notes. So was the idea that he and Pedroza would be their own bosses.
“Kitchen Tune-Up seemed like a family-run business, and that is the feeling I want in my employees,” Kiefer says.
Like many new owners, Kiefer found that Kitchen Tune-Up’s extensive training and support systems helped him feel confident about his new venture. “There is a lot of information in getting a business up and running, and Kitchen Tune-Up has done all the work, and passing that information on to us is the greatest help,” he says.
“I was very nervous going into the training, but Kitchen Tune-Up was very informative and was willing to listen and answer all questions that we had,” he adds. “That help put me at ease.”
Kiefer and his wife of 28 years, both from the Pacific Northwest, relocated to Nebraska in 2013. “We love the Nebraska community feel and are blessed to call it home,” he says. The Kiefers have two grown children and a granddaughter, and enjoy “all things outdoors,” as he puts it. You can find them on the water, boating or boarding, or in the mountains, skiing or camping. Kiefer keeps up his skills as a pilot and still enjoys taking flight when time permits.
